Jack Connelly is an established, self-taught artist from Houston, Texas, where he has been painting for over 40 years. Predominantly working in acrylic and oil paints, Connelly’s artistic styles are known for their detail and originality, and range from precise military and aviation to one-of-a-kind sci-fi and surreal pieces.
Inspiration for Connelly’s work emerges from a love of history, mechanics, past and future possibilities and a passion for visualizing his endless imagination. This wide array of influences has led to his paintings being put on display in the U.S.S. Wainwright Museum, The Benedict University of Chicago, Illinois as well as achieving awards from Sci-Fi Conventions and the Art Association Group.
Jack Connelly has participated in art festivals throughout Houston, “Wings over Houston” Air Shows and local art gallery displays. He hopes to use his talent to restore a sense of
wonder.
Art shows and Festivals that Jack has participated in over the past few decades include the Westheimer Art Festival, “Wings Over Houston” Air Shows, Sci-Fi Conventions, Bayou City Art Festival, Artisan Outdoor Market, Jury-Based Art Contests, and the Bellaire Art Festival.
Currently, Jack’s art is likely to be found at the monthly First Saturday Arts Market in the Houston Heights and White Linen Night Event in August.
Jack has received a total of 10 awards from Jury-Based Contests held at Sci-Fi Conventions, as well as the Christian Painting Award from the Art Association group.
Additionally, the U.S.S. Wainwright Museum has one of Jack’s military paintings on display in to add to the collection of relevant historical artifacts, information and decor. The Benedict University of Chicago, Illinois also purchased a piece of Jack’s artwork to display on the college campus grounds.
Through his work, Jack hopes to use his talents to help restore a sense of unity and wonder. He strongly believes that art is personal, spiritual, and unconfined; art is a limitless form of expression and interpretation, and can leave lasting impressions.
Jack has been featured several times in a variety of aviation, history, and military magazines including Aviation History, World War II, and Private Pilot.
